Quick answer
Turn off automatic renewal at least 48 hours before your membership expires: at accounts.nintendo.com go to Nintendo Switch Online > Cancel Your Pass by Turning Off Auto-Renewal, or do it in the Nintendo eShop on your console.
Steps
On the web
Sign in at accounts.nintendo.com with the account that bought the membership.
Select Nintendo Switch Online.
In the Active Plan section, select Cancel Your Pass by Turning Off Auto-Renewal, then Confirm.
On the console (Nintendo eShop)
Open Nintendo eShop and choose the account that bought the membership.
Select your icon (top right) to open Account Information.
On a family membership, choose Nintendo Switch Online on the left first.
Select Cancel Your Subscription by Turning Off Automatic Renewal.
When it ends
Your membership stays active until the end of its term. There are no refunds or credits for the time left.
Good to know
Turn off auto-renewal at least 48 hours before the membership is due to expire.
Once auto-renewal is off it can’t be turned back on for that membership.
When the membership ends, cloud save backups stop (a new membership within 180 days restores them), family members lose access, and unused game vouchers need an active membership.
